Christmas points up for grabs for Stutes

Histon’s see-saw form this season continued when they lost 4-0 to second-placed Coggeshall Town in the Thurlow Nunn League, Premier Division.

The Stutes’s campaign has so far been characterised in chunks, with a series of unbeaten runs separated by a succession of defeats in a row.

And after a five-match winning sequence was stopped at the end of November by Godmanchester, the loss to Coggleshall has made it three defeats in a row.

Coggleshall have only lost two games in the league all season, and they made a good start on their home turf with the opener after 18 minutes.

It was 2-0 by half time, and goals in the 49th and 89th minutes saw them complete their 4-0 victory.

Histon are currently down in 11th place in the table, having earned 11 wins from their 21 games so far.

It leaves them seven points off third place, but with four matches over the festive period, there are plenty of points up for grabs.

They host Clacton at the Glass World Stadium this Saturday (December 23), and are then away to Ely City on Boxing Day, kick off 11am.

On Saturday, December 30, they are away to Fakenham Town.

And then they will face Coggleshall again on Saturday, January 6.
