South stage a comeback to seal success
Jack Chalk swept in the winner for Cambridge South II as they defeated Bourne Deeping IV 2-1 in East Men’s League, Division 4NW.
Bourne took the lead the before the break, but Chris Walsh grabbed a second-half equaliser, and a minute later, Chalk struck to seal the victory.
Cambridge South gave promotion-chasers Crostyx a scare in 2S, only to eventually lose 4-3.
Paresh Parsot got two and Joel Harrison scored one for South as they fought back from 4-1 down, but they ran out of time to find an equaliser.
Toby Watson was the matchwinner with two goals, while Ed Boggis got one, as Cambridge South III won 3-2 against Bourne Deeping III in 4NW.
Robin White, John Gordon and Ed Willan were on target for Cambridge City VI in their 4-3 defeat to Louth in 5NW.
Cambridge South V were awarded a walkover in 6NW (S) after opponents St Neots could not raise a side, but in a friendly against South IV they were beaten 7-0 thanks to a hat-trick from Paul South, two from Oli Anderson and one apiece from John Greaves and Jason James.
Martin Hamon’s goal was not enough for Cambridge Nomads as a 2-1 defeat to Broxbourne saw them relegated from Division One.
Two goals apiece from Thom Whiffen and Arthur Meadows and one from Sugi Furuta earned Nomads II a 5-1 win at St Neots in 4NW.
Scott Gilmour and Euan Gilmour were on target for Cambridge City as they drew 2-2 with Old Georgians in the Men’s Hockey League, Conference East.
