Cantabrigian Rowing Club are top of the Small Boats Head pile

Success enjoyed across the classes at Rob Roy event

Cantabrigian Rowing Club were the most successful club at the Rob Roy Small Boats Head.

There were 142 entries in the competition, ranging from juniors to masters, in quads, pairs and single sculls.

The fastest crew overall were a composite coxed four from Broxbourne and Lea Rowing Club in 9min 37.6sec, with another coxed four from Lea in second in 9.44.7.

Cantabs had 43 boats in action, which was the largest number of entries from one club and they finished as the fastest women’s quad, pair and single scull, and they also won the novice single sculls.

The women’s quadruple scull were the fastest women’s crew of the day, finishing eighth overall in 10.21.9.

Cantabs’ Ellie Darlington and Andrea de Bruin were the second fastest women’s crew, with the coxless pair clocking 11.28.1 for 34th place overall.

Christina Woolner and Sue Hakenbeck were the fastest women’s masters B double scull in 12.08.3, placing them 58th overall.

Cantabs also occupied the top three spots in the women’s novice single sculls event.

The success was shared by the Cantabs’ men’s squad.

Andrew Marsden and Ricci Conci were the fastest men’s pair in 11.05.9, putting them 23rd overall.

Creon Taoself had a fantastic race to win the men’s novice single sculls in 11.13.9, which earned him 25th place.

The Cantabs juniors also had a very successful event.

There were wins for the girls’ J17 and J18 doubles sculls, the boys’ J17 coxed quad and double sculls, and the boys’ J16 single sculls.
