Plans on track for Women’s Head of the River Race

Cantabrigian Rowing Club showed their preparations for the Women’s Head of the River are on a good course after strong performances at the Head of the Trent in Nottingham.

Winds led to the race being reduced to 4,000m but that did not deter Cantabs.

The first eight of Millie Perrin, Ellie Darlington, Megan Lloyd-Palmer, Eve Caroe, Hannah Stewart, Bailee Stratton, Harriet Cross, Georgia Vann and cox Esther Momcilovic completed the course in 11min 41sec, giving them victory in the Intermediate 2 women’s eights and 16 seconds clear of second-placed York City.

And the second eight of Anita Holender, Cecilia Collins-Taylor, Sarah Inskip, Judith Weik, Alice Brownjohn, Emma Dalrymple, Gill Cooper, Ces O’Hanlon and cox Leanne Fiddian were victorious in the Intermediate 3 women’s eight category in 12min 23sec, 24 seconds faster than second-placed Northampton Rowing Club.

The Women’s Eights Head of the River Race is on Saturday, March 12 and Cantabs will have five crews entered, the largest entry by a Cambridge club in the event.
