Two runners-up spots for rowing club in the Fours Head

City of Cambridge Rowing Club earned two second-place finishes on the Boat Race course.

They sent eight crews across the men’s and women’s squad to compete in the Fullers Head of the River Fours and the Veteran Fours Head of the River.

In the women’s challenge coxless four, Sarah Large and Alice Adriaenssens joined forces with Francesca Axe and Mez Dubois-van Slageren to finish in 22min 32.8seec.

They were just five seconds behind Wallingford, and eight seconds clear of third-placed City of Oxford.

In the Veterans’ Head, the Men’s Masters B coxless four, average age between 36 and 43, earned second place despite competing in the Masters A category, average age 27 to 36.

Seb Walker, City’s club captain, said: “This is a great result for the club which builds on the men’s lightweight double win and the women’s pair’s second place at the Pairs Head a few weeks ago to give us the start of a run of successes.”
