Scrum-half scores twice in win over Harlow
Richard Knight touched down twice for Cantabrigian as forward power helped them clinch a 25-15 win over Harlow in London League 2NE.
Jon Perks was back for his first game of the season, and his return helped build a heavyweight pack that caught the eye.
Harlow, who had scored 44 points against Cantabs earlier in the season, took the lead with an unconverted try after three minutes.
A rolling maul set up the chance for new dad Knight to burst through low to the ground to score for 5-5.
A powerful scrum saw Pete Collins make the try-line on the blind-side, and James Hayward’s conversion was successful to make it 12-5 to Cantabs.
But Harlow scored to the right of the posts to make it 12-12 at half time.
Not long after the restart, Collins stole a line-out and passed to Tom Bailey to shoot down the blind-side to score in the corner for 17-12.
Harlow responded with a penalty, but Cantabs stole a line-out, and Perks bounced off two tacklers to set up a ruck, and Knight spotted a gap to burst through to score and earn the bonus point for four tries.
And with the last play of the game, Hayward landed a penalty to seal Cantabs’ victory.
It means they are third from bottom, five points clear of 11th-placed Woodford.
