Try deluge leads to defeat

A lacklustre display saw Shelford lose 34-8 at Guildford in the London & SE Premier Division.

Guildford opened the scoring within the first 10 minutess with a try in the left-hand corner.

Shelford hit back when Shingai Chiwanga offloaded in the tackle for Charlie Parkhouse to touch down to make it 5-5.

However, a penalty saw Guildford go back in front but it was all square again thanks to three points from Josh Simmons and it remained 8-8 at half time.

The second half belonged to Guildford though, as they scored four tries to seal the win.

Shelford are on the road again this Saturday, with a trip to Westcombe Park, who are a point and a place above them in the table.

There was no joy for Cantabrigian either, as they were beaten 44-26 by Harlow in London League 2NE.

Meanwhile, Cambridge University continue their Varsity Match preparations after an 11-day break with a game at Richmond tonight (Wednesday, October 25).

The Light Blues are still seeking their first win of the Michaelmas Term.
