City earn Hornets win

Megan Tonks was in good form for a decisive Cambridge City as they won 11-0 against Histon Hornets in S-Tech Girls’ League, Division 16A.

Their free-flowing football and clinical nature reaped the rewards as Tonks hammered five goals, Yasmin Crow scored four and Elizabeth Wray and player-of-the-match Sofia Castiglione got one apiece.

Cambridge City under-15s continued their impressive start to the season with an 8-0 win over Hungate Rovers.

They stamped an early authority on the game to go three goals to the good after only 14 minutes, and they were 5-0 up by half time, with Eve Rose and Katie Crook finishing with two goals apiece and Saskia Bailie, Aino Turunen, Yas Abbioui and player-of-the-match Katie Stancombe getting one each.

Annabel Cuthbert was the star of the show for Cambridge City under-14s as they sealed a 7-1 victory over Bourne in 14A.

The long trip did not faze City as Cuthbert struck six goals and Emma Taylor got one to bring the points back to Cambridge.

There was also a long trip for Cambridge City under-13s as they defeated Hungate Rovers 8-0 in 13A.

They made the trip in confident mood after a good start to the campaign, and soon took control of the game with a good display of passing football.

Milly Clarke, Niamh Davies, Jessie Fitzpatrick, Aime Fullwood, Yael Benyamin and Kayleigh Peters got one goal apiece, while Tiana Walker scored twice.
