The 25-year-old singer-songwriter from Herford entertained a sell-out crowd at the July Course, the final Friday in an impressive lineup of summertime shows.

In what was a brilliant all-round performance, George’s voice was truly amazing – sounding really natural and exactly like it does on the radio.

Looking good dressed all in black with a black guitar, the first song in his set was Casio, which was lively and really got the crowd singing along straight away. A nice touch was a woman doing sign language on stage throughout.

The combination of it being a sold-out event and me being rather short meant that it was difficult to see the stage, but I very much enjoyed singing along nevertheless – as did the crowd.

George really got the crowd involved, asking us all to repeat after him and sing some parts of Don’t Matter Now, a track from his second studio album, 2018’s Staying at Tamara’s.

He played a range of both his new and older music – particular favourites were Budapest, Blame It on Me and Paradise.

The star explained how his album came to be named Staying At Tamara’s: he decided to spend a month in Barcelona writing new music/looking for inspiration so booked an airbnb. Tamara was the owner of the airbnb in which he stayed.

Overall, I had such a good time and it was great seeing these wonderful songs played live.

Newmarket Nights 2018 will come to an end with The Vamps on Saturday, August 25.
