This community museum first started as a collection in 1942, housed in the district council office. It covers the local history, from the earliest prehistoric settlement.

The collection became a fully fledged museum in 1963 and has been displayed in its current home since 1995, the old doctors’ surgery.

There’s a considerable collection of objects and artefacts; in particular interest to local history buffs will be the picture library, and there are various other documents, maps and tools.

A nice stop for those branching out from the city and venturing into the Fens, this is one of the Fens Museum Partnership museums that chronicle the history of Fenland communities and the impact of the draining of the Fens.
