“The park is home to life science companies that have made a real difference and today scientists, inventors and entrepreneurs work side by side on the development of life-changing drugs, technologies and devices within our sustainable environment.

“We are particularly proud to sponsor the Medtech Company of the Year category to showcase the ground-breaking work that is being pioneered within the Cambridge biotech cluster.”

The park laboratory and office space are within 250 acres of parkland.

At the heart of it lies The Nucleus, a contemporary, purpose-built meeting, conference and event facility, while The Science Village is home to established and start-up companies.

Among the current occupiers at Chesterford are Arecor, the formulation technology company, Illumina, the sequencing experts, Axol Bioscience, which uses stem cell technology to produce highly validated human cells for research, Cellcentric, a drug discovery company, and Evonetix, which is developing a novel method of manufacturing DNA molecules using a microchip-based array.

Paul Brackley, editor of the Cambridge Independent, said: “We are delighted to welcome Chesterford Research Park as a sponsor of our Science and Technology Awards.
