Clothing for children label wins first award
Fashionbrandz is boost for 'mumpreneur' economy
New clothing label Fashionbrandtz is celebrating its win at the FSB (Federation of Small Businesses) Awards for the East of England.
Fashionbrandtz was started by Linton-based Nikki Costello-Brummitt as “a luxury children’s holiday shop selling beach/swimwear year-round as well as a gorgeous selection of winter/ski wear”.
The firm then launched its own label design, Look Like Cool, a “winterwear collection of children’s hats and jackets”, in November.
“Since launching, the concept of a holiday shop selling a good selection of beach and swimwear year round as well as winter (ski) holiday wear has gained a fantastic response from both our customers and suppliers,” says Nikki as she celebrated the win for Start Up Business of the Year.
“There are a number of fantastic children’s clothing sites out there providing high fashion designer wear – ChildrenSalon, ChildsplayClothing, Alex&Alexa and Panache to name a few – and trying to compete with them would have been almost impossible, so what we are offering provides some of the same big labels but under a different more targeted sales premise.”
The site caters to children age up to 10 years of age, providing everything from candy-scented jelly sandals to cosy cashmere bobble hats. Expect to find major brands (including Moschino, Kate Mack, Melissa Odabash, Mini Melissa, SnapperRock) as well as stunning Spanish, Italian and Danish brands.
“It has been an incredible start!” says Nikki. “This is a huge achievement for me and I would like my story so far to inspire other mums out there in business, especially with the ‘mumpreneur’/mum economy remaining such a hot topic and growing year-on-year, generating over £7billion for the UK economy in 2016 and supporting more than 204,000 jobs.”
