It has worked closely with many science and technology clients across the region since it was formed more than 30 years ago.

COEL, which also supported the awards in 2018, has now extended its coverage by opening a branch in Oxford, enabling to reach across the Oxford to Cambridge arc and beyond.

Barnaby Clark, sales director at COEL, said: “COEL is delighted to once again be supporting the Cambridge Independent Science and Technology Awards.

“With over 30 years of trading in Cambridge, we feel privileged to have seen many of our clients grow from ambitious start-ups to respected multinational organisations. COEL provides a full turnkey solution to office and laboratory design and build.

“We have had the pleasure of working with many companies in the science and technology community, ensuring that their workspaces provide the environment they need to help them succeed.

“We look forward to congratulating those who are successful on the night and hearing about the exciting new developments being made across all of the sectors.”

The COEL group has two subsidiaries: CPMS, a plumbing, heating and mechanical specialist, and CMS, which provides office furniture, commercial relocations and a storage service.

Alistair Rumbelow, COEL’s managing director, said: “2019 has presented COEL with exciting and ambitious challenges to embrace while facing an uncharted and extremely difficult political landscape.

“Oval Medical’s extraordinary growth has given COEL the opportunity, while working with their senior management on large budget feasibility designs, to both identify a suitable space for their new home and to design and fit out their new premises.

“We gained particular satisfaction from being able to develop the project from preliminary stages through to handover. Oval’s continued success has now seen them take on a further adjacent unit which is currently being delivered by the COEL team.

“Our priority and the focus of our aim remains the same: to offer exceptional service to our clients, fulfil their requirements and pre-meditate their future needs. Our target is to provide optimum satisfaction to the client and a sense of accomplishment for our team.

“The Cambridge Independent Science and Technology Awards celebrate excellence. They shine a light on local businesses, both start-ups and established heavyweights showing growth and innovation. The staff of these companies with their dedication and hard work exceed expectations and provide a role model for other emerging start-ups. For these reasons we are delighted to be a sponsor in the awards ceremony; specifically supporting the trailblazers that have been nominated as Games Company of the Year.”

The Games Company of the Year category this year is a head-to-head battle between two of Cambridge’s gaming heavyweights: Frontier Developments, the company behind Jurassic Park Evolution and Elite: Dangerous, and Jagex, famous for the world’s most popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game, Runescape.
