Family business Peasgood & Skeates opens two new funeral homes
Peasgood & Skeates championed a ‘can do’ approach through pandemic and has expanded its business with two new branches.
The staff at Peasgood & Skeates have worked very hard this past year to continue to offer the highest level of care to the bereaved. This local independent company has a long history of serving the community and it has always put the client first. While many firms have closed their doors, Peasgood & Skeates’ offices remained open throughout both lockdowns and families were able to make arrangements in the office if preferred and to visit their loved ones in the chapel of rest if they wished to.
Adapting to change is not new to this company - the first funeral home was opened in 1847 by the Peasgood family and the name changed when the Peasgoods joined R Skeates of Duxford in 2012.
Peasgood & Skeates have since opened in Newmarket Road, Cambridge, taking over from Cambridge Funeral Services and a new office followed in Haverhill in 2016.
New branches in Cambridge and Sawston
A further opportunity arose this year for the company to put themselves at the very heart of the Cambridge community, and two new offices have been acquired which were formerly East of England Co-op Funeral service branches.
Histon Road, Cambridge is a large, modern funeral home with excellent facilities, well positioned to support families in the areas of Arbury, King’s Hedges, Chesterton and the west of the city.
The new Sawston office on the village High Street has a comfortable lounge in which families can arrange a funeral or seek advice on a wide range of services offered. Both new offices have car parking spaces for clients and stringent hygiene measures remain in place for the safety of all visitors.
Highest level of standards and care
For their clients’ convenience, the offices at Shire Hill, Saffron Walden, Newmarket Road and Haverhill are open on Saturday mornings, to provide more flexibility. Funeral arrangements can also be made by telephone, email or even Zoom, if preferred. The focus is always on giving clients choice.
Sean Martin, head of operations, summed it up by saying: “I am extremely proud our team who have worked very hard this past year, focussing on what can be done. They are a group of very friendly, compassionate people who work very hard at what they do, something that clients frequently tell us, but something that we never take for granted.
“With two new offices in Cambridge and Sawston, we seek to provide our high level of service and care to a wider community, resuming our engagement with local clubs and organisations to give a little something back, once restrictions have been lifted.”
Come along for the Open Day on June 5
Peasgood & Skeates will have an public open day at the Histon Road branch on Saturday, June 5 from 10am to 1pm. It is an opportunity to have a tour of the funeral home, meet the team and and talk about a career in the funeral profession. Everyone welcome, no need to book - just come along.
