Judging round takes place after flood of entries to Cambridge Independent Business Awards
A judging round has taken place for the inaugural Cambridge Independent Business Awards after a flood of entries.
A panel of judges met at FORA, the workspace provider, in Station Road, Cambridge, last Friday to examine entries across a host of categories, from Business Person of the Year to The Award for Collaboration.
Further judging sessions are now taking place, with the shortlist due to be revealed in the Cambridge Independent soon.
The awards will be held in the Great Hall at King’s College, Cambridge, on 26 September.
Editor Paul Brackley, who chaired the panel, said: “It was great to see the quality of entries to our inaugural awards, which are designed to showcase excellence across a host of sectors. Cambridge’s business landscape is a busy and varied one, and it was clear from those nominated that there is tremendous talent here.
“I am grateful to our hosts, FORA, and to my fellow judges for their time and expertise.
“We are now looking forward to concluding the judging and revealing the shortlist.”
Kelly Peck, partner at headline sponsor Barr Ellison, was among those helping with the judging. And Friday’s panel included Richard Watson, from accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP, David Culley, from Pure, the professional recruitment consultancy, Maria Manion, CEO of Cambridge BID, Mike Scialom, business correspondent at the Cambridge Independent, and Jonathan Tewson, head of awards and events at our publisher, Iliffe Media.
FORA is sponsoring Business of the Year (Medium) at the awards, which are also supported by The Cambridge Building Society, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority Growth Hub, Conscious Communications, Form the Future and Kale & Damson, while Bidwells is sponsoring the reception.
