Nuffield Health Cambridge installs AI-enabled diagnostic systems after £200m deal with GE Healthcare

A £200million collaboration has been agreed by Nuffield Health, which will equip its hospitals with the latest diagnostic imaging technology from GE Healthcare.

Innovative artificial intelligence-enabled systems are being installed, including at Nuffield Health Cambridge in Trumpington Road.

The private hospital says it will support its ambition to deliver the leading diagnostic services in the East of England and there will be a “shared commitment to sustainable healthcare, incorporating ongoing upgrades to energy-efficient technology as it evolves”.

Ross Townsend, hospital director at Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital, said: “This partnership marks a significant milestone for Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital. GE HealthCare is a leader in medical technology, diagnostics, and digital solutions, with more AI-assisted technology than any other supplier.

“By investing in advanced diagnostic technology, we will be able to deliver faster, more accurate diagnoses that will not only benefit our patients but also support our NHS colleagues in reducing waiting lists.

“With ongoing technology upgrades over the 20-year span of our agreement, our talented team will have access to innovative tools and technology, enabling them to deliver the highest standard of care to patients in the East of England for years to come.”

GE HealthCare deep learning and AI-enabled technologies are embedded in devices and designed to provide predictive analytics for patients, while also helping to streamline a hospital’s processes.
