A suspected criminal gang has been apprehended in the middle of a plant machinery scam – a theft which would have left Burwell-based HE Services seriously out of pocket.

Plant machinery fraud is becoming increasingly common, HE Services’ managing director Hugh Edeleanu told the Cambridge Independent.

“Years ago people would break into plant machinery sites and steal stock but that’s now become much more difficult with security, isolator keys and the rest, so now it’s plant machinery hires. To all intents and purposes they just take the plant as a customer: we give them all the keys and the codes.”
