Queen’s Award for SciBite’s semantic data clean-up success

SciBite, semantic analytics software company based at the Wellcome Genome Campus, has been named as a winner of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation – the highest official UK awards for businesses.

The data-first company receives the ultimate UK recognition for commercial success as a result of its innovatory software platform which revolutionises access to and utilisation of scientific data. The platform transforms scientific information silos into clean, interoperable data.

Last year SciBite won its first Queen’s Award in International Trade, recognising outstanding short-term growth overseas. Since launch in 2013, SciBite has added a key component in the digital strategies of major global science, technology and medicine companies, including the world’s top 20 pharma companies. As well as its Hinxton headquarters at the BioData Innovation Centre, the company operates sites in the US and Japan. The staff count is 55.

The platform of fast, flexible, deployable API technologies uses a semantic deep-learning approach in transforming previously unusable but scientifically relevant textual content into machine-readable clean data.

This year 220 UK businesses have been recognised for their contribution to international trade, innovation, sustainable development and promoting opportunity through social mobility. They include five other Cambridge companies - Sphere Fluidics, Anglian Water, Adder Technology, Cambridge Healthcare Research and Global Graphic Software.

The Queen’s Award were established in 1965.
