St John’s Innovation Centre hosts tech mergers and buyouts session on Monday

The SJIC (St John’ s Innovation Centre) Sundowner programme continues on Monday (October 19) at 11am with a conversation-style session on tech mergers and acquisitions between a business founder and PR expert.

The event will see of Dr Rosemary Francis of Altair and Alison Taylor of Conscious Communications taking a behind-the-scenes assessment on tech mergers and acquisitions, facilitated by SJIC’s MD, David Gill.

Dr Francis founded Ellexus, the I/O profiling company, in 2010 following her PhD in computing architecture and career in the semiconductor industry. After building the company for 10 years, it was acquired by Altair in 2020. She now continues her technical role as chief scientist within the PBS works team where the Ellexus tools now reside. She is also the VP of product for Ellexus.

Dr Rosemary Francis is an expert on computer architecture, high-performance computing and analytics. She has a keen interest in promoting diversity in engineering, as well as education initiatives to get more children learning about all spheres of computer science. She describes herself as “an obsessive technologist who ‘looks up’”.

Alison Taylor, Conscious Communications’ managing director, has worked alongside major international corporations and blue-chip brands as well as entrepreneurial SMEs and start-ups in industries including education, eCommerce, health and nutrition, construction and sustainability.

Conscious Communications is a PR agency based at St John’s Innovation Centre working with clients such as AstraZeneca, Cambridge University Press and Cambridge Science Centre.

St John’s Innovation Centre is a new partner in the Enterprise Europe Network, designed to help businesses innovate, grow and succeed in the European marketplace through technology transfer or by finding new customers, suppliers or commercial partners.

The Centre is also currently delivering SJIC Training services via a combination of Leadership and Management training courses, bespoke training, master classes and workshops on topics relevant to growing businesses.
