St John’s Innovation Centre to support Cambridge Independent Science and Technology Awards 2024
St John’s Innovation Centre is to support the Cambridge Independent Science and Technology Awards 2024, sponsoring the Medtech Company of the Year category, we can reveal.
The centre, home to tech start-ups and scale-ups, sits at the heart of St John’s Innovation Park, close to the A14, and has around 90 tenant companies.
Stephanie Martlew, chief operating officer, will also join the judging panel for this year’s awards, bringing her experience working for Ieso Digital Health, Oxford VR and, prior to her current role, as CEO of Psyomics, which has created a digital mental health assessment platform.
Stephanie said: “St John’s Innovation Centre has a long history of supporting knowledge intensive companies to grow and scale, and many of our tenants are in the medtech space. The recognition that the Cambridge Independent Science and Technology Awards gives all nominees is fantastic and so we are pleased to be supporting the awards this year.”
St John’s Innovation Centre, established in 1987 by St John’s College, University of Cambridge, also hosts 300 virtual tenants who enjoy access to the meeting rooms and the prestigious Cambridge address. Over the years, numerous tech success stories have started life at the site, including HP Autonomy, Jagex, Zeus Technology and Owlstone Medical.
Paul Brackley, editor of the Cambridge Independent, said: “We are delighted to have the support of St John’s Innovation Centre for this year’s awards and to welcome Stephanie to the judging panel, which will have a tough task on its hands this year, following a record number of entries.
“As always, the Medtech Company of the Year category will be a great contest, with innovation and ingenuity on display from companies that are making a real difference to patients’ lives.”
The judging panel is due to meet at the end of the month before the finalists are announced in March, ahead of the awards ceremony in May.
