UK staycation market is the latest business venture for Tony Murdock
The temporary closure of many hotels during the coronavirus pandemic prompted business owner Tony Murdock to embark on his latest venture – the new UK-Staycations.com website.
Tony, owner of full-service international event company TR Global Group , was anxious to find a way to support the hospitality industry to ensure it can get back on its feet and the initiative was born.
It has taken months of hard work to design and is now being advertised as an essential marketing platform alongside social media for hotels, guest houses and self-catering accommodation establishments throughout the UK.
The website allows visitors to browse locations to find the relaxing country escape, city break or luxurious retreat that suits them.
After more than 25 years in the industry, some of which were as general manager and director of Quy Mill Hotel & Spa, Tony understands the criteria for making these venues enticing to existing and new customers during these challenging times.
Tony said: “We are delighted to be launching our new venture, a membership listing site with its main aim to provide a cost-effective route to market for our hospitality, leisure and tourism sectors who have been hit so hard by this pandemic.
“For a small annual fee with no ongoing commissions, they can promote exclusive offers to suit their offering through UK Staycations. We hope that this platform will assist in a small way to protect jobs, save businesses and generate more for their bottom line.
“We are really pleased with our first properties on board for the launch, but we urge people to follow us on social media to see when we add new members and offers.”
Tony, who was chair of the Cambridge Roar annual charity event, created TR Destination Management shortly before Covid-19 hit. While waiting for the return of events and the international travel market, he is heading up UK-Staycations.com, based at South Cambridge Business Park in Sawston, and is joined by hospitality professionals Karis Parker and Kelly Walker.
Customers can sign up to the mailing list to receive special offers and find opportunities to win overnight stays and treats at the participating venues.
The platform promises exclusive rates so consumers can “holiday at affordable prices and #makememories”.
In the coming weeks, Tony said more deals will be advertised in time for the October half-term, Christmas and into 2021.
