GCSE results 2019: The Perse
The Perse is celebrating record-breaking I/GCSE results thanks to the excellent performance of the school’s 176 Year 11 students who have achieved some excellent grades in their exams.
A record total of 83 per cent of Perse entries were graded 9 or 8, which is broadly equivalent to the old GCSE A* grade.
This compares to last year’s previous high of 80 per cent of entries graded at 9/8/A*.
Overall, 94 per cent of Perse entries scored a 9, 8 or 7 grade, which is the equivalent of the old GSCE A*-A grades - and 60 per cent of entries were graded at 9, which is nearly 14 times the national 9 rate in 2018.
Meanwhile, 75 pupils achieved 9 or 8 grades (broadly equivalent to an A*) in all of their subjects, and more than 90 per cent of pupils attained 9 or 8 grades (broadly equivalent to an A*) in computer science, geography, Greek, Latin and maths.
Head Ed Elliott said: “I congratulate Year 11 on their outstanding achievements, which are the product of much hard work. Their success is richly deserved.
“I also thank the teaching and support staff for all the help and encouragement they have given pupils. We should all be very proud of what they have achieved.”
