The report praised the school in many different areas. A particular focus was the school’s community, with inspectors noting: “Pupils and their parents appreciate the privilege of being part of such an exceptional school community.

“Pupils quickly learn to embody the school’s ‘PARK’ values: pride, aspiration, respect, and kindness.”

Headteacher Jonathan Newman said: “I am thrilled with the positive feedback from the inspectors.

“There is much to celebrate, and this achievement highlights the hard work of our staff, children, parents, and Meridian Trust. The outcome of this Ofsted report is the culmination of many years of hard work. Our staff tirelessly strive to provide a high standard of education for the local community’s children.”

The school was commended for the camaraderie shown across four houses in the year groups: “Pupils strive for house points by completing tasks to a high standard. Achieving a coveted ‘crown’ or certificate in the weekly assembly further boosts their self-belief.”

Inspectors highlighted that clear rules, routines, and strategies support positive behaviour within the classroom, noting: “Pupils’ behaviour is exemplary. From the early years, staff teach children how to behave during lessons. For example, on the carpet, children know not to touch the equipment at their feet until it is time to use it. This foundation ensures that lessons across the school are conducive to learning.”

The report praised the work of the trust in crafting the curriculum: “Teachers know exactly which words, concepts, and skills pupils should learn,” adding: “Staff teach using clear instructions. This helps pupils to avoid guessing and prepares them well for answering questions. It also helps them contribute to discussions and complete activities successfully.”

The report commended the school’s support for children with special educational needs: “The school is skilled in identifying and supporting pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). It collaborates with parents, nursery schools, and trust leaders to make the right decisions.”

A further area of note was the school’s input in developing the children into well-rounded individuals: “The school provides outstanding opportunities for personal growth. These help pupils learn important skills and build a strong sense of community. What truly sets the school apart is how all these positive aspects work together to develop pupils who are confident, clever, and kind.

“Pupils are a credit to themselves, their parents, and the school.”

Lesley Birch, deputy CEO of the Meridian Trust, said: “The outstanding Ofsted report emphasises the tremendous effort by the staff at Histon and Impington Park Primary School to create a supportive learning environment where children thrive and become an integral part of the community.

“The dedication and passion exhibited by the school’s leadership and teaching staff are truly inspiring. Their commitment to fostering a culture of excellence is evident in the pupils’ exemplary behaviour, academic achievements, and personal development.

“This report is not just a testament to the hard work of the school’s staff but also to the collaboration and support from parents and the wider community. It is a shining example of what can be achieved when everyone works together with a shared vision and purpose.”
