Sawston Village College pupils pick up Arts Award
Pupils at Sawston Village College picked up Arts Award certificates after completing work in dance, music, art and drama.
The Arts Award is an accredited Trinity College London qualification which is supported by Arts Council England.
Some 36 pupils achieved awards at Bronze and Silver levels and a further five Year 7 pupils were presented with Explore certificates, having completed this while still at William Westley Primary School.
Pupils covered a range of art forms to achieve their awards including dance, music, art, drama, technical theatre and filmmaking.
The moderator said:"[The] young people had clearly enjoyed being able to tailor their project outcomes to their individual subject interests.
The work has helped the village college to achieve the Arts Council's prestigious Artsmark Platinum award, one of currently only two schools in the region to have achieved this.
Arts Development Manager, Lesley, Morgan, said:"It is a pleasure to work in a school where the arts are flourishing.
She added:"Sawston Village College is grateful to the South Cambridgeshire Decorative and Fine Arts Society, which supports young people's engagement with Arts Award in school.
