University of Cambridge Primary School pupils take part in workshops on domestic abuse

Cambridge-based charity Landlark, which works to build a ground-up response to domestic abuse, visited the University of Cambridge Primary School in Eddington.

Thirty Year 6 pupils at the school undertook a two-day workshop which covered issues such as healthy relationships and consent in an age-appropriate way. They then composed and performed an assembly presentation to their peers about what they had learnt.

Landlark worked on the project with London-based charity Tender.

Cllr Alice Gilderdale, from the city council, came to observe the assembly.

Beth Warmington, of Landlark, said: “Cllr Gilderdale really enjoyed seeing these workshops in action and the presentation the Year 6s gave to the rest of their year group.

“It really is activism at its very heart and workshops like these with different age groups are one of our best hopes of eradicating violence against women and girls.”
