Inside the stunning Thai restaurant Giggling Squid as it opens in Cambridge
A spectacular-looking new Thai restaurant opens in Cambridge today (Monday September 28) - and diners can enjoy 50 per cent off for the first week.
Giggling Squid has opened its latest restaurant at The Old Library at 2 Wheeler Street, the venue behind the Guildhall that was home to the Jamie Oliver restaurant Jamie’s Italian, until earlier this year.
It now features striking floral decor designed by Giggling Squid’s co-founder, Thai-born Pranee Laurillard.
Pranee said: “Thai mealtimes are energetic, informal, adventurous and where food is celebrated. It’s relaxed and there’s no standing on ceremony.
“We simply want people to have a great time over something tasty! Every Giggling Squid has my own personal touch to it, and this restaurant is no different; it’s a spectacular space that we hope will bring a lot of pleasure to our guests.
“We can’t wait to welcome everyone.”
Among the new dishes on offer will be butternut boat and three flavour sea bass, and the restaurant promises to offer banquets to fit in with the Thai tradition of offering plentiful dishes to share.
A takeaway menu will also be available for click and collect, or telephone orders.
Delivery via Deliveroo will be offered soon.
Giggling Squid said there would be stringent health and safety policies to make diners feel comfortable amid the pandemic.
Its opening hours will be Monday-Thursday 12-10pm, Friday-Saturday 12-10pm and Sunday 12-9.30pm.
The half-price offer runs from Monday September 28 to Sunday October 4.
The chain was founded by Pranee and Andrew Laurillard with a restaurant in Brighton.
There are now 36 Giggling Squid venues across the UK.
