19-year-old from Ely arrested after motorcyclist in his 50s dies in A142 collision in Cambridgeshire
A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a motorcyclist lost his life in a collision on the A142 at Witcham Toll.
Police were alerted when a 999 call was made at 5.16pm on Saturday (May 20) following the collision outside the Esso MFG fuel station between a black Chrysler 300c and a red Suzuki GSX1400 motorcycle (location indicated on Google map).
Paramedics attended but the motorcyclist – a man in his 50s – was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 19-year-old man from Ely was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision, and remained in custody at Parkside Police Station in Cambridge on Sunday.
Det Sgt Craig Wheeler, from the serious collision investigation unit, said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or may have dash-cam footage of either vehicle prior to it.
“We would also like to hear from anyone who was at the fuel station around the time of the incident, who we have not yet spoken with.”

It was the second tragedy on the roads in Cambridgeshire on Saturday, following the death of a woman in a single-vehicle collision on the A14 at Brampton Hut earlier in the day.
