What better way to get into the Christmas spirit while also fundraising for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (Each) than by taking part in a fun run, jog or walk dressed as Father Christmas?
That’s what happened at Granta Park on Thursday, December 9, at the annual Santa Run – supported by the business park and Bidwells and sponsored by BioMed Realty.
The park was painted red as the Santas set off around the 2.5km route. The event, which started in 2014, didn’t take place last year (for obvious reasons) but this year, 150 Santa-suited participants signed up. Fifteen businesses got involved and, although the exact amount raised is not yet known, the organisers believe it will be around £2,500.
Billie Race, Each events fundraiser, said: “It was a fantastic day, full of festive fun. This is an established event in our calendar and it was lovely to be back, having been forced to miss out last year. Everyone involved was a great sport and got in the spirit, sharing a laugh and joke while running in their Santa outfits.
“We hope to have raised over £2,500, which is a fantastic outcome and will help us continue supporting families and caring for children and young people in Cambridgeshire and across East Anglia.”
