£25million Cambridge house deal the biggest ever done in the city
More than 40 Victorian houses sold to London investment company
A Cambridge property company has sold more than 40 Victorian terraced houses to a London investment company in what is being touted as the city’s largest ever residential deal.
Local developers and property experts Blues Property have concluded the sale of the 43 houses, which includes some flats, for a record £25million but could not provide details of the buyers or their intentions.
The deal clearly shows that Cambridge maintains its appeal as one of the most attractive places in the UK in which to invest.
Ian Purkiss, owner of Blues Property, said “This was a terrific deal for our clients who had grown their portfolio over many years into a highly attractive proposition.
“If anyone has a similar portfolio, or knows of one, please get in touch as the appetite for investing in our ever growing city is at an all time high.”
The London company’s identity must remain a mystery at present due to the confidentiality of the deal.
But Mr Purkiss added: “I cannot tell you anymore I am afraid, we had to sign a confidentiality clause. That is why I have not said who the vendors are or what’s going to be happening to them. It is a big investment company in London that has bought them.
“The are mainly Victorian terraced houses but there a few flats in there as well. “
The houses are thought to be along Mill Road in Cambridge.
Mr Purkiss added: “We put the deal together with the guys in London.
“It took time to go through all the due diligence but in the end it was fairly straightforward because it was a cash purchase. The company we dealt with want to buy more in Cambridge.
“They are keen to buy some more so we sent out details in case anyone has any properties they want to sell.
“What it reflects is that Cambridge is growing so rapidly so that investment in London is moving out this way. We have had quite few people get in touch who are looking for stuff.”
