27-year-old arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving after death of motorcyclist in Cambridgeshire




A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drugs following the death of a motorcyclist.

The man, from Fenstanton, remains in custody following the fatal collision between a blue SUV heading towards Hilton and a yellow Kawasaki motorbike heading away from Conington on Wednesday evening (18 June).

Officers and paramedics were called to the junction of Hilton Road and Conington Road, near Fenstanton, at about 9.45pm.

The rider of the motorbike, a man in his 70s from Cottenham, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The SUV driver was uninjured and remained at the scene.

Det Sgt Craig Wheeler said: “Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the gentleman who tragically lost his life in this collision and his family are being supported by our family liaison officers.

“I would like to hear from anyone who either saw the collision or has dashcam footage of it as they could greatly help our investigation.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage of it should use reference CC-18062025-0618 and report it through the force website.

The fatal collision followed the death of another motorcyclist the same evening.

A woman who was riding a red Honda GB 650 RA-K north along the B1043 at Stanton Hill, towards Sawtry, at about 7.45pm on Wednesday (18 June) died after her motorcycle left the road and struck a fence.
