27-year-old Cambridge shoplifter jailed after CCTV identification

A man who stole from shops across Cambridge has been jailed

Jamie Williams, 27, of Sackville Close, Cambridge, was arrested by police on 9 January after being identified on CCTV images as being responsible for a number of thefts in the city.

Williams stole coffee, chocolate, laundry products, meat and cheese worth more than £500 from Co-Ops in Chesterton Road, Milton Road and Cambridge Square as well as perfume from TK Maxx in Sidney Street between 9 December and 2 January.

He pleaded guilty to six counts of theft and was sentenced to 28 weeks in prison at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on 10 January. He must also pay £500 in compensation.

We’re committed to working alongside businesses that are victims of theft to catch those responsible and put them before the courts.”
