A-level results day 2024: Stephen Perse Cambridge celebrates impressive results




Celebrations are under way as the students, parents and staff of Stephen Perse Cambridge reflect on the determination and dedication that helped them achieve impressive results.

The school’s young people achieved an excellent set of results, with 29 per cent achieving three grades at A*-A.

In addition, some 20 per cent of grades were at A*, 48 per cent at A*-A and 75 per cent at A*-B. Overall, 87 per cent of grades were A*-C.

For their next step, many students have secured places at Russell Group universities and prestigious institutions around the world including University of Oxford, Imperial College London, University College of London, Durham University, University of Warwick and Syracuse University in the USA.

Among the cohort celebrating achievements is Lydia O, who will be going to Hull York Medical School to study medicine.

She said: “The immense support from my teachers not only helped my friends and me achieve our full academic potential, but also allowed me to develop my independent study skills and a healthy work-life balance. It’s so useful to be guided through the process, and I am very grateful they have supported me in my pursuit of a career in medicine.”

International student Matvii Y has secured a place at University of Oxford to study engineering, with plans to become an aerospace engineer.

Matvii chose to study at Stephen Perse Cambridge for his A-levels due to the school’s welcoming and supportive atmosphere: “I’ve enjoyed the diverse and supportive environment. You are constantly informed of the extra opportunities you can participate in, which helped my personal statement stand out from other candidates and helped me to secure engineering offers from Southampton, Manchester and Oxford.”

This year’s departing students have demonstrated their passion and versatility for learning by excelling in a broad range of subjects. Among the students’ diverse fields of study at university are medicine, optometry, mechanical engineering, product design and jewellery and silversmithing.

Alongside these courses, other students are holding offers for physics, law and biochemistry from institutions such as UCL, University of Durham and the University of Manchester.

Principal Richard Girvan expressed pride and admiration for the students achievements, noting their dedication and hard work.

“Our students’ accomplishments are a result of their unwavering determination and effort, aided by the support not only from families but also our incredible teaching staff who I’m sure will be just as proud as I am. As the students look to the future and enter the next stage of their lives, we hope that they will keep the valuable life skills and experiences that they have gained throughout their time at Stephen Perse Cambridge,” he said.

Supporting this, head of 11–18, Stephen Ward, added: “We are so proud of our students’ achievements today. This year group’s shared excitement for their chosen fields of study is inspirational, and we are confident that they will continue to excel. We look forward to hearing about all the amazing things that they go on to achieve.”
