A-level results day 2024: Students at St Mary’s Cambridge praised for dedication




Students at St Mary’s School, Cambridge are celebrating a remarkable set of A-level results this year, highlighting their dedication and academic excellence.

An impressive 25 per cent of grades were achieved at A*, with 52 per cent at A*-A. These superb results have secured St Mary’s sixth formers places at Oxbridge to read subjects including medicine, English literature, theology and geography.

With 89 per cent of grades awarded between A*-C, students have excelled across the board including in subjects like geography, languages and creative arts. Students have also successfully secured places in their chosen universities to study subjects such as automotive engineering at Warwick, biology at York, medicine at Exeter, and economics at University College London (UCL).

The A*-A grades awarded surpassed the previous year by seven per cent further cementing the school’s reputation for academic excellence.

Overall, some 25 per cent of grade were at A*, 52 per cent of grades at A*-A, 73 per cent of grades at A*-B and 89 per cent of grades at A*-C.

Rebecca Landshoff, head of sixth at St Mary’s School, Cambridge expressed her pride: “Our 2024 A-level cohort has achieved outstanding results, reflecting their hard work and the exceptional support from our teaching staff.

“These achievements highlight the unique advantages of a girls’ school environment, where students are encouraged to excel – research shows nearly 80 per cent of girls’ school students report their classes challenge them to achieve their full academic potential.

“Our focus on academic rigour and tailored support ensures that each student reaches her full potential. Congratulations to the Class of 2024 on their remarkable success!”
