A Parkrun might soon be starting in Cambridge
There could soon be more chances to lace up your running shoes and enjoy Coldham's Common as it's being proposed for the location for a regular 5km Parkrun.
The city council would host the run in partnership with Parkrun. It’s a free, 5km timed run, also open to joggers and walkers.
Cllr Richard Johnson, executive councillor for communities, said: “Parkrun has proved hugely popular with thousands of people across the country and around the world.
“It is a community event that provides people of all ages and experience with the opportunity to be more active on a regular basis in a really supportive environment.
“Support for inclusive, community-led, free events like Parkrun are a key way in which the council aims to make sport and fitness activities easily accessible by anyone, as part of our work to reduce inequality of opportunity in Cambridge.
“I would encourage people to take part in the council’s consultation in order to let us know what they think about this proposal to bring a regular Parkrun to the city for the first time, in one of our popular open spaces.”
A public consultation on the proposed Parkrun is now taking place until June 2. Residents can complete an online survey at surveymonkey.co.uk/r/coldhamsparkrun.
