Jesus College, Cambridge, hosts another successful arts festival
The fifth John Hughes Arts festival took place between February 8-12 at Jesus College.
The festival was originally started by a group of students to commemorate the life and spirit of John Hughes, Jesus College’s Dean of Chapel, who tragically died in a car accident in 2014.
The festival is founded on his commitment to openness and his appreciation for the arts in all its forms.
Building on the success of previous events, the festival was extended by two days and featured a diverse line up that celebrated John’s life as well as the college’s commitment to, and enthusiasm for, the arts.
The festival began with an open hang gallery featuring a range of work submitted by students, artists, and the general public.
Other events included a poetry workshop with award-winning author Preti Taneja, a variety show, a tour of the college’s expansive art and sculpture collection, a secret postcard auction, and talks from special guests including Chinese artist Liu Dahong.
