Arrest after reports of a man with knife in Cambridge

An arrest has been made after reports of a man with a knife in Newmarket Road, Cambridge.


Officers were called to the scene shortly before 10am today (Thursday, January 9).

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Constabulary said: “Officers, including those from the armed policing unit, attended the scene and the police helicopter assisted in attempts to locate the man.”

A 26-year-old man, of no fixed abode, was arrested in Nuns Way, Cambridge, on suspicion of possession of a knife in a public place and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.

He remains in custody at Parkside Police Station.
