Arrest made after man seriously injured in late-night stabbing Cambridge city centre




One arrest has been made following a stabbing in Cambridge city centre in the early hours of Friday that has left a man with serious injuries.

A cordon was put in place outside Taco Bell in Market Street on Friday morning, as forensics experts worked at the scene.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesperson said: “We were called at 3.10am today with reports of violence – namely a man that had been stabbed after being approached by two other men.

“Officers arrived on scene two minutes after the initial call and searched the area. One man has been arrested so far in connection with the stabbing and enquiries are ongoing.

“Paramedics attended and the man was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, where he remains.

“A scene is in place to preserve any forensic evidence and an investigation has been launched. Anyone with any information can contact police online quoting crime reference 35/76982/25 or incident 49 of 10 October. Call 101 if you do not have internet access.”

Police said the stabbing occurred outside the Taco Bell restaurant, which will have been open at the time.

It was granted permission to open until 4am by councillors in May 2023, having originally been restricted to a 2am opening.
