Portuguese national Cristiano, 35, is studying marketing at Anglia Ruskin University and is set to graduate next year.

To celebrate the end of his degree and to raise awareness about the ongoing impact of climate change, he decided to plan a three-month solo bicycle trip next summer from Cambridge to Istanbul – that’s 2,000 miles over three months, across eight different countries.

Cristiano will be uploading video and photographs along the way, as well as creating a documentary about the ride.

He started planning the project six months ago, and the original goal was to finance it himself.

However, last September he broke his foot which had a financial impact, so he has now set up a crowdfunding campaign.

Cristiano said: “The idea I had was to create awareness about climate change and to promote good environmental practices.”
