Awards for two Histon independent retailers
Two independent retailers in Histon are celebrating this week after winning awards.
Daisy Chain gift shop collected the 'Best Gift Shop in Cambridgeshire' title at the Muddy Stiletto Local Awards for Cambridgeshire last week. The High Street-based outlet has been up and running for 14 years and sells everything from jewellery to bags to homeware to baby presents.
“I’d just sat down for my birthday lunch when I got the news,” said owner Lesley Nunn, “so it was a double celebration. I was delighted and overwhelmed – our customers are everything for us and it's great for Histon to have two winning independent retailers.”
The other winner was Lucy Hill, who runs Gin House Flowers, a pop-up on School Hill which has had the green light to continue at least until the end of the year.
“I’m really pleased,” said Lucy. “I can’t believe it – it’s my first shop and we’ve been on the site for less than a year, although we have been going for two years – we were at Dry Drayton Studios before.”
Gin House Flowers won the title of 'Best Florist in Cambridgeshire'. Lucy stocks everything from “single stems to potted plants to wedding flowers – and everything in between”.
The Book Warren and Cafe in Willingham won the 'Best Bookshop' title for the county, Cambridge Arts Theatre won 'Best Theatre', Cuckoo Clothing in St Mary's passage won 'Best Women’s Store' and Artique Galleries on Bridge Street won 'Best Art Gallery'. Further details here.
