Bake sale at Lion Yard Shopping Centre, Cambridge raises £2,500 for Addenbrooke’s

A charity bake sale in aid of Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT) was held at Cambridge’s Lion Yard Shopping Centre last weekend (7-8 September).

It was organised by sixth form student and Addenbrooke’s ward volunteer, Rose Kim.

Rose was assisted over the weekend by a team of volunteers, including Janet Hunter and Margaret Woodley.

She said that £2,500 was raised over the two days, with a proft of £1,000, and revealed that she asked local bakeries to donate food to sell.

“I gave some of the left-over food to security officers,” said Rose, “and some to the volunteers who helped me in selling the cakes – and I was told by one of the volunteers that she gave them to homeless people.”
