The organisation’s member establishments came together at the Zara restaurant in Shelford on Thursday, February 9. All those attending unanimously agreed to hold a fundraising night at their restaurants, from which they will donate 50 per cent of takings.

For most, this will take place next Monday (February 27), while a few will run it on Tuesday (February 28). BCA Cambridgeshire will collect funds from the participants and ensure it goes towards the relief efforts.

The public can support the appeal by booking a table or ordering a takeaway. A list of those taking part will be published soon on the BCA Cambridgeshire Facebook page and website, at bcacambridgeshire.org.uk.

Khaled Ahmed, secretary general, said: “Something needed to be done; we felt it is our duty and responsibility to provide help for the victims, so we came together to arrange this fundraiser.”
