Boy, 16, due in court after violence in Cambridge leaves 17-year-old with serious injuries
A 16-year-old is due in court today (Monday) following violence in Cambridge on Saturday that left another teenager in hospital with serious injuries.
Emergency services were called to William Smith Close at about 3.45pm to reports of violence.
A 17-year-old boy was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with serious injuries but later released.
A 16-year-old boy from Peterborough, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested at the scene by an off-duty police officer.
The boy has since been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and grievous bodily harm with intent. He is due to appear at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court today.
The 17-year-old was later arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent but released under investigation.
Police, paramedics and the East Anglian Air Ambulance attended the scene, which was later examined by a forensics team.
