Work to repair a burst water main led to long delays on the A14 today (Friday, April 6).

Water leaked from the burst main on the B1049 bridge at junction 32 to Histon and forced the closure of the eastbound exit slip road – as well as one lane of the A14.

Motorists wanting to travel on the B1049 into Cambridge were diverted on to the A14 towards junction 33 for Milton.

A statement from Cambridge Water released earlier today said: “The company is aware of the travel impact the diversion is having and the inconvenience caused, while its teams remain on site and work to repair the burst water main.

“The burst has not impacted customers’ water supply.”
