The popular store in the Grand Arcade will shut on Tuesday (February 19) at 6pm.

A spokeswoman for the chain said: “Our location at Grand Arcade will be closing permanently following the end of business on February 19, 2019.

“We have enjoyed helping Guests make furry friends and memories at this location. Guests can visit buildabear.co.uk for more furry-friend fun and to find the store location nearest them.”

In January, US-owned Build-a-Bear Workshop lowered its full-year revenue forecast mainly because of the UK.

It said “unresolved issues related to Brexit” had “negatively impacted consumer confidence”.

The company said that it expects sales outside the US market to drop by between 17 per cent and 20 per cent “largely isolated to the UK”.

The nearest store to Cambridge following the closure will be the branch in Milton Keynes.
