Cambridge burglar jailed after fingerprints found at crime scene
A man has been jailed after his fingerprints were found at the scene of a house burglary in Cambridge.
Darren Scales was sentenced to three years and four months in prison at Huntingdon Law Courts yesterday (Monday, September 20) after pleading guilty to aggravated burglary with intent.
The 52-year-old, of Kingsway, Cambridge, broke into a property in Carlton Way on 2 March and rummaged through the kitchen and medical box.
One of the occupants heard noises coming from downstairs and confronted Scales who promised to leave.
Scenes of crime officers recovered Scales’ fingerprints from the window and also recovered a knife found in one of the bedrooms.
Detective Constable Paul Stevens said: “Scales is an opportunist, prolific burglar who targeted homes to feed his addictions. We hope this time in prison will allow him to turn his life around.”
