Cambridge bus company branch out in tree giveaway
Roll up - last date for entries is June 5
Stagecoach East is marking Green Week, which starts on June 5, by giving away 50 ornamental trees.
The selection includes ornamental acers, cherries and rowans which will be about 6ft tall. The company will additionally be marking Green Week by planting a further 10 ornamental trees at the Milton Park&Ride site on June 5.
Earlier this year, the Park&Ride fleet was pronounced the greenest fleet in Cambridge after Stagecoach East invested £4.7million in 21 new buses fitted with stop-start technology.
Andy Campbell, Managing Director of Stagecoach East, said: “Looking after air quality and the environment is an important consideration for us - and Green Week is the perfect opportunity to remind people about our greener, smarter travel instead of driving in and out of our congested city centre.
“If, by the end of the week, we could encourage everyone to switch at least one car journey a month to the bus, there would be a staggering one billion fewer car journeys on our roads nationwide, plus a saving of two million tonnes of CO2. Imagine what that would look like for Cambridge.”
To win a free tree, send your name, address and contact phone number, together with why you or your nominated cause should receive a tree (in less than 150 words) to: Green Week Trees, c/o Stagecoach East, 100 Cowley Road, CB4 0DN or email: hannah.gentle@stagecoachbus.com putting Green Week Trees in the subject line.
Last date for entries is June 5. Trees will be delivered to winners from June 19.
