Cambridge businesses take on climbing challenge to aid charity

A Cambridge charity has enlisted the help of six businesses to raise more than £10,000 and help improve the lives of families affected by cancer.

The multi award-winning charity Something to Look Forward To works closely with businesses that donate gifts, experiences and essential items which are then matched to people affected by cancer.

It is now planning to host its first event – a climbing challenge at Cambridge’s indoor climbing venue, Clip n Climb, on October 31. The organisations taking part include Fratelli Hair Salon, Sticks N Sushi, Gearset, The Yoga Hut, Redmere and Addenbrooke’s oncology department.

Francesca Abery, service and development manager, said: “Six businesses are going head-to-head to see who can climb the equivalent of the base to summit of Ben Nevis, which is 1,345m. Teams of six will climb 224 walls, which on average will be 34 walls per person.

Each business is aiming to raise £600 which the charity says it will treble.

Francesca added: “We already have more businesses signed up for the next event and hope this will become a regular event in our calendar.

Clip n Climb is providing its venue in Clifton Road for free.
