The challenge will see them reinvent the Silk Road for the 21st century by travelling 10,000 miles across continents in an electric car.

The Devon-born brothers, whose expeditions include rowing across the Atlantic Ocean and traversing Greenland’s Ice Cap, will undertake the mammoth road trip in MG’s newly unveiled all-electric Cyberster, a sports car with a 0-60 of 2.8 seconds.

On arrival in Cambridgeshire – which is expected to be around 4pm on September 12 – the twins will rendezvous with the MG Owners’ Club, the world’s largest single marque car club, which has its headquarters in Swavesey.

The afternoon will see the MG Cyberster lead a rally of classic MG cars, including a vintage 1920s heritage MG roadster.

The meeting of MGs past and future encapsulates the spirit of the Turner twins’ expedition, as the ultimate test drive of the world’s first EV roadster marks MG’s centenary year in 2024.

The expedition begins with the brothers leaving London’s Westminster before touring the UK on a route that includes visiting MG’s birthplace in Oxford, before departing for European leg of the journey that will see them cross France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Spain, and Italy.
