Cambridge fundraiser Kouros Majidi to tackle London Bridges Wellness Walk in aid of Diabetes UK with friend from Australia

A Cambridge fundraiser will be joined by a friend from Australia when he undertakes the London Bridges Wellness Walk in aid of Diabetes UK.

Kouros Majidi, 54, a retired photographic technician, and Michael Middleton, 66, from Adelaide, will tackle the 10-mile walk on Sunday (September 24).

The walk will start in Battersea Park and participants will criss-cross 12 of London’s most iconic bridges as they notch up the miles heading east.

Passing Big Ben and the London Eye, thousands of fundraisers will see the sights of central London before finishing at Potters Fields Park in the shadow of Tower Bridge.

Kouros has been inspired to take on the challenge because he lives with type 2 diabetes and wants to help stay fit and to further research into the condition.

As the Cambridge Independent has reported, he has completed the One Million Steps Challenge three times for the charity, raising more than £3,000 in the process, as well as 100 miles in a month, the Thames Path Walk and the London Bridges Walk.

Kouros said: “The walking started when the Covid lockdown happened. I looked online for something to do and found Diabetes UK. I have been walking ever since.”
