Cambridge meat thief jailed
A thief who stole meat from Co-Op stores around Cambridge has been jailed.
He had already been banned from the stores’ outlets in the city until June.
Joshua Collinson-Prime, 29, of no fixed address, took steak and mince from stores in Hills Road, Cambridge Square and Bottisham on four occasions between 15 January and 7 February.
He was caught on CCTV and identified by police.
At Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 20 February, he was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison after pleading guilty to four counts of theft and three breaches of a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).
His CBO remains in place until June 2024 and states he must not:
- Be in possession of any bicycle part/bicycle without proof of purchase/ownership/lawful rental
- Advertise, sell or offer to sell any pedal cycle or bike part that he does not have proof of ownership for financial or other gain
- Go to any Co-Op in Cambridge within the boundary of the M11, A11, A505 and A14
Sergeant Dan Scott said: “Collinson-Prime is a prolific thief with a number of thefts against his name. This time in prison will provide some respite to businesses affected by his offending and we hope he takes up the opportunities to get the support he needs.”
